Event Recap
On February 21st, 2019, over 30 emerging leaders from the Greater Boston area participated in Learning by Giving’s Relevance: The Critical Role of Community Voice for Nonprofits event. The evening was an opportunity for young professionals to learn more about how nonprofits make sure their programs and services are relevant and accessible for constituents.
Highlights from our event included:
- LxG’s Director of Academic Programs, Shanna O’Berry, led a TED-style talk around how philanthropic givers can evaluate how nonprofits remain relevant in their community, and how to make their giving impactful.
- LxG’s Executive Director, Amy Kingman, moderated a panel with Christina Haines of Silver Lining Mentoring and Peter Ducharme of Bridge Over Troubled Waters. They spoke about how they integrate those that they serve with the work in their organizations. Attendees were able to ask questions and engage with the panel.

About the Event
Join the Learning by Giving Foundation (LxG) for an in-depth conversation about the critical influence of the community on nonprofit work. This event is the first in a four-part series of events for emerging leaders in New England who want to learn how to make their giving impactful, and network with other like-minded young professionals.
At the event LxG will present on “Relevance” from the RISE Framework for Social Change, a framework developed by Rebecca Riccio, Director of the Social Impact Lab at Northeastern University, which focuses on the nonprofit hallmarks of Relevance, Impact, Sustainability, and Excellence in Management and Operations. LxG’s Executive Director, Amy Kingman, will then moderate a conversation with leading local nonprofit executives on how they ensure their program is relevant to the communities they serve.
This event is free to enter but all attendees are strongly encouraged to support LxG and the nonprofits we work with a donation of $25. Drinks and food will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Joel@learningbygivingfoundation.org
